PhD with subject Screening and performance of phosphorus-efficient cereal cultivars for future food security.

Bangor University
Deadline 23rd March 2016.

In collaboration with leading international experts, the PhD project will investigate the potential to screen for low P seed traits in wheat, advance trait selection in current low seed phytate P barley mutations, develop understanding of plant P metabolism and test the performance of low P seed lines in both low and high soil P environments and in response to added P. This studentship has the potential to link genetic advances in desirable P-efficiency traits for crop selection with potential precision farming technologies that aim to use less P fertiliser.
