WssTP

The European Technology Platform for Water

WssTP is the European Technology Platform for Water. Initiated by the European Commission in 2004, WssTP strives to promote coordination and collaboration of Research and Innovation in the European water sector, improve its  competitiveness, and contribute to solving water-related societal challenges. WssTP consists of 120  members and a network of more than 700 individuals from Industry, research, technology providers, policy makers and water users.  

WssTP is widely recognized by the European Commission and National governments as a key reference organisation in the Research & Technology domain for the water sector.  WssTP has 10 year track-record in (i) the development of research and innovation agendas, (ii) research and innovation policy coordination, and as a (iii) catalyst for the formation and launch of EU projects that bring together cross-sector collaborators who in turn will address water-related societal and economic challenges through innovative solutions ; among them  P-REX, Aquafit4use, E4Water, TRUST, Prepared, ChemWater, Marsol, Demoware, Dessin etc.

Currently, WssTP has 16 working groups (WG) which are key to the functioning, objectives, and implementation of the WssTP strategy. Among them, the WssTP WG Resource recovery (RR) has as an objective to support resource recovery from water resources, giving recommendations on further research and demonstration needs to facilitate the implementation of the Resource recovery. WssTP WG RR has also formed a subgroup on nutrients in which, phosphorous comes in first place among nitrogen and potassium. Taking seriously the topic of phosphorous scarcity, the Resource Recovery WG contributes to enhancing the implementation of state of the art phosphate recovery techniques and intensifying research on novel ideas and concepts. A scientific report on resource recovery will be published as the WG’s final output at the end of 2014. This will be the first scientific report about resource recovery and can help defining areas of interest for future national, Horizon2020 and JPI-Water calls.
